I heard on All Things Considered about the war over War and Peace.
There are two new translations. One is 400 pages shorter than the other.Which to read?

STEVE LEVINE on Lanigan and Malone mentioned this book, which sounds interesting - "The Oil and the Glory: The Pursuit of Empire and Fortune on the Caspian Sea." He mentioned the stans. There are many of them - Kazakstan, Pakistan, Turmenistan, etc. They are in the Caspian Sea area. (Borat, of course, from the one of these.)
